Downy Doxey-Marshall is a native of Utah. She earned her BFA from the University of Utah and her MFA from Brigham Young University. Downy taught as part-time faculty at Brigham Young University and has instructed at the Visual Art Institute of Utah. She has worked with many different mediums throughout her career; egg tempera, pigmented ink and embroidery on raw linen, mix-media, and oil paint. Collections that represent her work include Springville Museum of Art, Utah Arts Council, Delta Airlines, and many others. Her paintings are inspired by the juxtaposition of personal adornments and the natural landscape. Visually describing the perishable nature of the physical body and the everlasting spirit that inhabits it; nature eventually ravages the objects we once considered precious and then discards them.
